KDventures portfolio company AnaCardio evaluated drug candidate AC01 in the study, designed to improve cardiac pumping function in patients with heart failure.
The detailed results confirmed a favorable safety profile and clear improvements in contractility and cardiac function: the heart's ability to pump blood improved by 29.5 percent on the first day of treatment, with the effect sustained at 22.0 percent after 28 days. Ejection fraction, a measure of cardiac function, improved by a mean of 4.8 percentage points. No serious adverse events were attributed to the drug candidate.
The results support continued clinical development of AC01 in a larger Phase 2b study.
